Success Is About An Attitude!

Success is About an AttitudeAsk anyone if they want to be successful and you’ll get a “yes” every time. However, what exactly does the word mean? According to Webster, success means, “a:degree or measure of succeeding b: favorable or desired outcome; also: the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence”. Basically, it means that whatever goals you set for yourself and accomplish, they can be counted as having a favorable result or being successful.

For some people success means a new home, luxury car, swimming pool, or expensive jewelry, and for some it means being able to send their children to college or becoming a millionaire. In addition to the material and monetary things that can represent success, we must be more concerned with the mindset that we should have in order to be successful and all of those things will follow. You see, success is more about an attitude and a total commitment to achieving your dreams and goals regardless of the challenges that lay ahead.

Do you have the right attitude to be successful? This is the first question you must ask yourself when you want to accomplish your goals. If you want everything now and don’t have the patience to properly figure out how you are going to make it happen for yourself then it will not happen! If you aren’t willing to sit down and write an action plan, it cannot happen. If you do not define what success means to you, it cannot happen.

Oftentimes, we see celebrities and entrepreneurs profiled in Ebony or Black Enterprise magazines and think that they are lucky or that they must have had someone to give them a break, however, it’s just not true. Those successful people have done a lot of “behind the scenes” work and have paid their dues. When they are profiled in the media, we are often seeing the finished product or result of them putting their goals into action.

In his book, “How To Think Like A Millionaire”, author, Mark Fisher says, “In our instant-gratification society, we often look only at the final product: the movie star, the millionaire, the acclaimed artist. It looks like overnight success. We don’t see the years of dedication and patient persistence that went into the process”

Most successful people share that they have had failures and the key for them was not to give up on their dream and to keep pressing forward, no matter how long it might have taken. They had the right attitude and because of it, they reaped their reward.
